Long Island Railroad
Community Relations Intern
May 2018-January 2019
As a member of the community relations team, I assisted in implementing public and governmental affairs management, community relations, and event organizing strategy for the Long Island Railroad, and its Third Track Expansion Project. I was also able to use my bilingual abilities to provide translation services for official written materials of the LIRR and organized meetings with stakeholders from the surrounding communities to ensure their input and engagement in the project, an unprecedented mass transit solution for commuters in the Long Island area.
Innovation
The LIRR Modernization Program is a multibillion dollar investment in the regional transportation infrastructure that aims to foster Long Island’s economic growth for generations to come. This comprehensive program to reconstruct and improve the LIRR system is moving forward with planning, design and construction. These projects range from large system expansion efforts, such as the LIRR Expansion Project from Floral Park to Hicksville, East Side Access and the Double Track Project from Farmingdale to Ronkonkoma, to improvements to existing infrastructure, such as substation replacements and station enhancements.
